Couple Name Embroidery: Both Your Names on Your Wedding Outfit

Pink Net Bridal Lehenga from House of Daisy

Couple name embroidery is the simplest way to make a wedding outfit yours: both your names, stitched into the dupatta, the blouse or the lehenga. It shows in close-up photos, it means something every time you wear the outfit again, and it can be as bold or as hidden as you want.

What to embroider

  • Both first names, joined by a heart, a knot or "weds".

  • Initials in a monogram, for something quieter.

  • The wedding date, alone or with the names.

  • A short phrase: a line from your vows, a blessing, a word that matters to you.

  • Family names, for brides who want both families in the outfit.

Script and language

Names can be embroidered in English, Hindi (Devanagari), Urdu or another script that matters to your family. Many couples mix them: one name in each script, or the names in English and a blessing in Hindi. For nikah outfits, read nikah dupatta with groom name.

  • Cursive reads as romantic and flows well along a border.

  • Block letters read clearly from a distance.

  • Calligraphic Devanagari or Urdu becomes almost a decorative motif in itself.

Where to place both names

Dupatta border

The most popular spot: your names run along the edge that frames your face. Read bridal dupatta with name.

Blouse back

Both names, or just the groom's, across the back. See bridal blouse with groom name.

Lehenga border

Names hidden in the hem pattern, repeated or placed once at the centre front.

Latkans

A name on each latkan, so they swing together. See customised latkans.

Entry dupatta

A large dupatta carried over you as you walk in. Read bridal entry dupatta with groom name.

Design tips

  • Spell-check twice. Send the names in writing exactly as you want them.

  • Match the thread to the outfit. Gold zari reads as part of the embroidery; a contrast colour stands out.

  • Think about the photo. Names on the dupatta border show best when the dupatta is draped over the head.

  • Keep it balanced. Two names and a date are plenty for one placement.

How to order

Tell our designer the names, the script and where you want them. You see the layout and the price before anything is cut. Payment is in full in advance, and our own karigars do the embroidery. The designer gives you a delivery date once the design is approved.
