Bridal Entry Dupatta with Groom Name

Off White Pink Net Crop Top Lehenga from House of Daisy

The bride's entry is one of the most photographed moments of the wedding. In many families she walks in under a large dupatta held up at the corners by her brothers, cousins or friends. A bridal entry dupatta with the groom's name turns that canopy into a message: his name, or both your names, embroidered across it for everyone to see as you walk towards him.

Entry dupatta or bridal dupatta?

  • The bridal dupatta is the one you wear with your lehenga, on your head or shoulders. Read bridal dupatta with name.

  • The entry dupatta is held above you for the walk-in. It is larger, lighter, and designed to be seen from below and from the side, in photos and videos.

Some brides have both, with the same name design echoed on each.

What to write

  • The groom's name alone, in large letters at the centre.

  • Both names, such as "Ananya weds Rohan".

  • A phrase: "Here comes the bride", "Dulhan aa gayi", or a line in your own language.

  • The wedding date along the border.

Names can be in English, Hindi or Urdu. Send the exact wording in writing.

Size and fabric

  • Size: big enough to cover you and leave room for four people to hold the corners. Our designer will suggest a size for your venue and your helpers' height.

  • Fabric: sheer net or organza is popular, because light comes through and you stay visible in photos. Heavier fabrics feel grander but are harder to hold up for the whole walk.

  • Weight: keep the heavy work to the border and the name, so the helpers' arms don't tire.

Design ideas

  • Name in the centre, flowers around it: classic and clear.

  • Gota or sequin border so the edges sparkle under lights.

  • Hanging tassels or bells at the corners, for movement.

  • Floral strings attached on the day, if you want real flowers too.

  • A scene of the bride and groom or a doli. See dulha dulhan embroidery design.

Think about the camera

Letters need to read in a photo taken from a few metres away, so make the name large and in a colour that contrasts with the fabric. Ask your photographer where they will stand during the entry, so the name faces the right way.

How to order

Tell our designer the wording, the size you need and your outfit colours. You see the design and the price before anything is cut. Payment is in full in advance, our own karigars embroider it, and the designer gives you a delivery date once the design is approved. Planning more personal details? Read couple name embroidery.
