Bridal Blouse with Groom Name: Back Designs and Ideas

Wine Zari Sequin Crop Top Lehenga from House of Daisy

During the pheras, the jaimala and most of the wedding photos, the guests see your back. That is why the blouse back has become the favourite place for the groom's name. A bridal blouse with the groom's name is made to measure, and the name is embroidered as part of the blouse design, not added later as a patch.

Back designs that carry a name

  • Name across a deep back: the name sits just above the tie or the lower band.

  • Name in a frame: inside an embroidered arch, jharokha or circle, like a small painting.

  • Name with a motif: with a pair of peacocks, a lotus or a dulha-dulhan pair. See dulha dulhan embroidery design.

  • Name on a potli button panel: a strip between the buttons carries the name.

  • Name on the latkans of the blouse dori, for something subtle. See customised latkans.

Techniques

  • Aari work: fine chain-stitch letters, good for cursive names.

  • Zardozi and dabka: raised gold letters that look rich in photos. Read zardozi lehenga for bride.

  • Sequin and bead outlines: for a name that sparkles under evening lights.

  • Tone-on-tone thread: a name you only notice up close.

Script and wording

The groom's name can be in English, Hindi or Urdu, alone or with yours. Some brides add "Mrs" before his surname, a nickname, or the wedding date. Send the exact spelling in writing; our designer will show you the lettering before it is stitched. For both names together, see couple name embroidery.

Fit comes first

A name only looks good on a blouse that fits. The blouse is made to your measurements, and the name is placed after the back shape is fixed, so it sits straight and centred. Read custom bridal blouse design and our lehenga measurement chart.

Match the rest of the outfit

  • Use the same zari and thread colours as the lehenga.

  • Echo the name on the dupatta border. See bridal dupatta with name.

  • Keep the front simpler if the back is heavy, so the blouse stays comfortable.

How to order

Bring a picture of a back design you like, and the name exactly as it should appear. You see the design and the price before anything is cut. Payment is in full in advance, our own karigars do the embroidery, and the designer gives you a delivery date once the design is approved.
