Bridal lehenga restyle

Karwa Chauth look in bridal lehenga, made to feel new

Wearing your wedding lehenga for Karwa Chauth is a lovely idea, and the easiest way to make it feel new is to change one or two pieces around the skirt: a fresh blouse, a lighter dupatta, or a small alteration. At House of Daisy on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, we restyle a bride's wedding lehenga for Karwa Chauth and the festivals, for lehengas bought from House of Daisy.

Why re-wear the bridal lehenga at all?

Your wedding lehenga was made for you and worn for a few hours. Bringing it out for your first Karwa Chauth gives it a second life and a new set of family photographs, and in many homes it is touching to see the new bride in her wedding colours again. The question is only how to keep it from looking like a copy of your wedding day.

What can be changed to make it feel fresh?

  • A new blouse. The quickest change. Swap a heavy, full-sleeve bridal blouse for an elbow-sleeve or sleeveless one in a contrast colour, or a blouse with a lighter neckline that suits a festive necklace.
  • A new dupatta. A soft net or organza dupatta with a gota or scalloped border is lighter to drape over your head for the puja than a heavy bridal dupatta.
  • Alterations. If the fit has changed since the wedding, or you want the skirt a little lighter to sit in, alterations can be discussed with your designer.
  • Keeping one bridal piece. Wear only the skirt with a new blouse and dupatta, so the look reads as festive rather than bridal.

Which restyle suits a long day of fasting?

Think about comfort first. A heavy bridal skirt for many hours is a lot. If you want the full wedding look, plan to change into it for the evening puja and moonrise rather than wearing it all day. A lighter blouse with a little ease at the waist, and a dupatta that sits without pins, make the evening much easier.

How do the colours work when the skirt is red?

  • Gold or antique gold blouse: keeps it festive and lets the skirt's embroidery lead.
  • Rani pink or orange dupatta: a cheerful contrast that is still traditional.
  • Same-red blouse in a lighter fabric: keeps the bridal feeling but drops the weight.

If your wedding lehenga was pastel or another colour, the same approach works: change one piece, keep the skirt as the hero. We make any colour you want for the new pieces.

What if my wedding lehenga is not from House of Daisy?

We restyle only lehengas bought from us. For any other lehenga, a new festive outfit is a good alternative, and it gives you a second piece for the year's other functions. See our latest lehengas and bridal lehengas for ideas you can wear again at family weddings.

How does the restyle or a new piece get made?

Bring your lehenga to the showroom, or show it on a video call. Your designer suggests the blouse, dupatta or alteration and shares a sketch for anything new. You choose the fabric, colour, neckline, sleeves, embroidery and its placement. Our made-to-order crafts include mirror work, gota patti, chikankari, zardozi, dabka and aari, with tested zari only. Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our atelier.

Order a made-to-order festive outfit or new piece 3 to 4 weeks before Karwa Chauth. It is priced on its fabric, embroidery and hours of work, and the designer quotes after the sketch, before work starts. A fitting is the moment to check how it feels to sit in; read how fittings work.

Where do I bring my lehenga?
