Fittings for your bridal lehenga: what happens and when

At House of Daisy on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, every bridal lehenga we make to order is made to your measurements, taken at our DLF Phase 1 showroom or guided on a video call. Fittings can be booked any day between 11 AM and 9 PM, and any change your trial shows is made before delivery. How many fittings you need, and when the last one falls, depends on the work in your lehenga, and your designer gives you that plan at your consultation.

Your fittings are where the sketch you fell in love with starts to become yours. It is the moment the mirror finally shows you the bride you have been picturing. Here is what to expect, and how to walk in ready.

How many fittings will my lehenga need, and how far apart are they?

We would rather give you your real plan than a number that sounds neat. The fittings your lehenga needs, and the gaps between them, depend on the work involved: the fabric, how much embroidery there is and where it sits, a long trail or a lighter lehenga. Your designer looks at all of it and shares the plan at your first consultation, which is free, in our showroom or on a video call.

Good questions to ask your designer that day:

  • How many fittings will my lehenga need?
  • When will my last fitting be, and when will the lehenga be ready for delivery?
  • What happens if my weight changes before the wedding?
  • What should I bring to each fitting?

What measurements are taken for the lehenga, blouse and dupatta?

Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements, taken at our showroom (Shop 226A, 2nd Floor, DT Mega Mall, Golf Course Road, DLF Phase 1, Sector 28) or guided step by step on a video call. As a rough guide, a bridal set usually needs:

  • Blouse: bust, under-bust, shoulder, armhole, sleeve length and round, blouse length, and front and back neck depth.
  • Lehenga: waist, hips and the length from waist to floor, in the heels you will wear.
  • Dupatta: how you plan to drape it, over the head, on one shoulder or both.

Want to see the full list before you come in? Read how we take measurements and our size chart. We make to measure in every size, including 3XL and larger, and plan the cut and length for petite and tall brides too. More on that in made to measure for every bride.

Can my fittings work around my office hours?

Yes. Fittings can be booked any day between 11 AM and 9 PM, so if you work, you can come in the evening or at the weekend. For brides in Golf Course Extension Road, Sushant Lok, Sectors 42, 43, 53 and 54, MG Road and DLF Phases 1 to 5, pick the slot that suits your week and book it here or message us on WhatsApp.

What should I wear and bring to my lehenga trial?

A little preparation makes your trial so much more useful. Our suggestions:

  • Your wedding heels, or a pair the same height, so the length is set for the real day.
  • The innerwear you will wear under your blouse, so the fit is true.
  • Your key jewellery, especially the necklace and earrings, to check how they sit with the neckline.
  • Something easy to change out of, and your hair loosely tied.
  • One person whose eye you trust, and your phone, for photos and a quick video as you walk.

What happens if my lehenga needs changes at the trial?

That is exactly what the trial is for. Changes needed at the trial are made before delivery, including if your weight changes before the wedding. So move in it: sit, walk, lift your arms, try a few dance steps, and tell us honestly how it feels. A bride who is comfortable glows in every photo.

When should my last fitting be, and when will my lehenga be ready?

The date of your last fitting depends on the work involved, and your designer puts it in your plan at the consultation. This is one reason we ask you to order a made-to-order bridal lehenga at least 8 weeks before your wedding: it leaves room for fittings and changes without a rush. Our advice is to keep a comfortable cushion between your last fitting and the wedding, so the final days are about you, not alterations. Would you rather it came to you? Do my mother's and sisters' outfits need fittings too?

We make outfits to measure for your mother, sisters, grandmother, bhabhi and bridesmaids, and relatives in other cities can send their measurements. How many fittings each outfit needs depends on its work, so ask your designer to include everyone in the plan. You can plan all of it together in one consultation; see your family's outfits.
