Wedding planning has a way of making every week feel shorter. Knowing your lehenga's timeline early turns that panic into excitement. Here is how it works, and what to do whatever your date.

How long does a custom bridal lehenga take?

We ask you to order a made-to-order bridal lehenga at least 8 weeks before the wedding. The exact plan depends on the work in your lehenga: the fabric, how much embroidery there is and where it sits. Pieces we make to order are hand-embroidered in our atelier by our own karigars, and you see an embroidery sample before the whole piece is made. Your designer sets out your dates at the consultation, so you know where you stand from day one.

How many months before the wedding should I order?

At least 8 weeks before, and earlier is kinder to you. Ordering early gives you time to enjoy the sketch, the sample and your fittings, rather than racing through them. We cannot tell you when the wedding-season rush begins, so the simple rule is: book your consultation as soon as your date is fixed.

My wedding is in three months, or two. Is that enough?

• Three months: more than the 8 weeks we ask for. Book your consultation now, so you can use that time well.
• Two months: about the 8-week mark. Come in, or book a video call, as soon as you can, and your designer will give you a plan based on the work you want.
• Ordering in August for a December wedding: that gives you more than 8 weeks. Your designer confirms your dates in your plan.

Only six weeks left?

From consultation to delivery: how it flows

1. Free design consultation in our showroom at DLF Phase 1, Sector 28, or on a video call. Bring your mother, sisters or fiancé.
2. Your sketch, shared by the designer for approval. You choose the fabric, colour, neckline, sleeves, embroidery and its placement.
3. Your quote, given after the sketch and before any work starts. Payment is 100% in advance.
4. Measurements, taken at the showroom or guided on a video call.
5. Your embroidery sample, seen before the whole piece is made.
6. Hand embroidery in our atelier, by our own in-house karigars.
7. Trial and fittings, with any changes made before delivery.
8. Delivery. Shipping within India is free, and we ship worldwide.

When will I see my first sketch?

The timing of the first sketch depends on the work involved, and your designer tells you at the consultation when to expect it.

Planning several outfits, or your family's too?

Roka next month and the wedding a few months later? Plan everything in one consultation and tell your designer every date, so the outfits needed first are planned first. The timing of your mother's outfit, or a sangeet outfit, also depends on the work involved; ask for it in the same plan. Flying in from abroad for the wedding?

You do not have to wait until you land. Brides abroad can order on video call and WhatsApp video, from the first design conversation to design approval, with measurements guided on a video call.
