A deep back lehenga blouse is comfortable as long as the depth stops where the blouse can still hold itself without help, which for most brides is around the middle of the back, closed by a band or tie at the waist. At House of Daisy on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, we find that depth with you at the fitting, not by a number on a chart, because the right depth is the one where you stop thinking about your blouse.
How do I decide how deep to go?
Depth is personal, and it is also practical. These questions help:
- When will the back be seen? If your dupatta covers it through the pheras, the depth matters most for your entry, varmala and reception photos.
- Will you dance? A very deep back needs a firmer band if you plan to move a lot at the sangeet or after-party.
- What feels like you? Some brides feel most themselves with a gentle scoop; others love a dramatic open back. Neither is more bridal than the other.
- What will your family be comfortable with? Worth a quiet conversation before the sketch, so you are never second-guessing on the day.
What keeps a deep back secure?
The lower the back, the more the front and sides have to do. A good deep back blouse has:
- A shaped front with built-in support, cut to your measurements.
- Side seams that hug, so the blouse does not gape when you lean forward.
- A firm closure at the base, with hooks, a zip or a dori.
- A neckline that stays put at the shoulders, usually helped by a thin strip of grip tape inside.
At your trial, raise your arms, bend to touch your feet, turn around and sit down. If the back edges lift or the shoulders slide, tell us. Changes needed at the trial are made before delivery. Our guide to fittings and the trial has a fuller list of what to try.
Which shapes of deep back look most bridal?
- Deep U: the softest and most classic. Lovely with a dori and latkans at the base.
- Deep V: elongates the back; pairs well with a V or sweetheart front.
- Deep square: structured and vintage; edge it with a broad embroidered border.
- Deep back with a cross strap: one band across the middle adds hold and a graphic line.
How do I wear a deep back with confidence?
Confidence mostly comes from trust in the fit. Once you know the blouse will not move, you stop reaching back to check. A few small things help too:
- Practise sitting and standing in it at the trial, with your dupatta on.
- Choose the hairstyle with the back in mind. A low bun or braid shows the back; open hair covers it.
- Decide on your back jewellery, if any, before the hair and makeup team arrives.
- Keep one safety pin and grip tape in your bridal kit, just in case.
Where should the embroidery sit on a deep back?
Frame the opening rather than filling it. A border of zardozi, dabka or gota along the edge draws the eye down the line of the back. Scattered motifs on the shoulder blades soften the look. Keep any raised work away from where your back meets the chair. If your dupatta is net or organza, plan the border so it shows through when the dupatta falls behind.
Can I have a deep back on a ready lehenga?
Yes. On any ready lehenga from our showroom, the blouse can be made to your choice, including a deep back, so a skirt you love in our bridal lehenga collection can be paired with the back you want. For made to order, you choose neckline, sleeves, back and cut one by one; the designer shares a sketch for your approval before anything is made, and you see an embroidery sample before the whole piece is made. Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our atelier. Order a made-to-order bridal lehenga at least 8 weeks before the wedding.
Our showroom is Shop 226A, 2nd Floor, DT Mega Mall, Golf Course Road, DLF Phase 1, Sector 28, Gurugram, open every day from 11 AM to 9 PM. Bridal consultations are by appointment, and walk-ins are welcome to see pieces.
Questions brides ask
Is a deep back blouse comfortable for a long wedding?
Yes, when it is made to your measurements with support in the front and a firm closure at the base.
Can I make the back less deep after the sketch?
Tell your designer before work starts. It is simplest to settle the depth at the sketch, and fit is checked again at the trial.
Should my hair be up with a deep back?
If you want the back to show, a bun or braid helps. Open hair softens and partly covers it.
Will my dupatta cover a deep back at the pheras?
Usually, if it is on your head and falls behind. We show you the drape at your final trial.
Deep back blouse mein kitna gehra theek rehta hai?
Aksar peeth ke beech tak, neeche band ya dori ke saath. Fitting par hum aapke aaram ke hisaab se depth tay karte hain.
