The trendy wedding outfits for women that work best on a long wedding day are the ones built for movement: a pre-draped saree, a lehenga gown, a sharara set or a light lehenga with a secured dupatta. They look current and still feel easy at midnight. At House of Daisy, our showroom on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, we often hear relatives say they want to look good without thinking about their outfit all day. This guide is about exactly that.
What does a long wedding day ask of an outfit?
A close relative's wedding day can run from a morning ceremony to a late dinner. You may greet guests, sit through rituals, climb stage steps, eat standing and dance. An outfit that suits this day needs to:
- stay in place without constant adjusting;
- let you sit cross-legged or on a low seat;
- breathe in a warm hall and keep you covered on a cool lawn;
- be light enough on the waist and shoulders for many hours.
Which trendy shapes pass the test?
The pre-draped saree keeps the pallu fixed and the pleats neat. The lehenga gown zips on in one piece and has nothing to slip. The sharara or lehenga suit gives full movement with a long kurta for coverage. A light crop-top lehenga is easy to dance in, and a ready crop-top lehenga comes with a dupatta you can leave off. A jacket set layers well for an outdoor evening. Browse our indo-western outfits for more easy shapes.
Which fabrics feel easiest?
Georgette and crepe drape softly and do not crush. Organza looks crisp but is light. Soft silk breathes better than stiff brocade. Velvet is warm, so keep it for a jacket or a winter night. On made-to-order pieces any base fabric is possible, and a soft lining can be added so embroidery never scratches.
Which small details make the biggest difference?
- A secured dupatta. Hidden loops or hooks for pinning a dupatta without damaging the fabric are added on request.
- A lighter flare. For the sangeet, we can make a lighter flare and secure the dupatta and blouse for dancing.
- Pockets. Hidden pockets can be added to made-to-order gowns, suits and lehengas, so your phone has somewhere to go.
- Easier closures. On request, a made-to-order outfit can have a side or front zip and a drawstring waist.
- Sleeves. Sleeves can be added or lengthened on most ready pieces, usually within about a week.
How do you keep it trendy, not just practical?
Comfort does not mean plain. Choose one trend detail and let it lead: a sheer cape, a structured blouse, a scalloped border or a two-tone colour pairing. Keep the rest simple. A matching potli made from the outfit's fabric on made-to-order pieces finishes the look and keeps your hands free. If your family is coordinating, our guide to family outfits helps you fit your piece into the palette.
Ready or made to order?
Ready pieces can be tried and altered at the showroom, often within about a week, and ready lehengas have a detachable can-can. Ask us on WhatsApp what is in the showroom now. For made to order, the first design consultation is free; you choose fabric, fit and embroidery, and approve a sketch and an embroidery sample. Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our atelier. Order three to four weeks ahead for a single festive outfit.
Our showroom is at Shop 226A, 2nd Floor, DT Mega Mall, Golf Course Road, DLF Phase 1, Sector 28, Gurugram, open every day from 11 AM to 9 PM. Walk-ins are welcome to see pieces.
