When to Start Bridal Lehenga Shopping: A Calm Timeline for Gurugram Brides

"When should I start looking?" is one of the first questions brides ask us — usually with a little panic in their voice. The good news: there is a calm way to do this. Here is a simple timeline, built around how long things really take.

A made-to-order lehenga at House of Daisy takes about eight weeks from the moment you approve the design. Everything else in this timeline is about giving yourself enough room before and after those eight weeks — to dream without rushing and to fit without worrying.

Six months or more before: dream and collect

• Start a folder of screenshots — colours, necklines, silhouettes, the way a dupatta falls.

• List your functions: roka, engagement, haldi, mehndi, sangeet, wedding, reception.

• Set a rough budget for the whole wardrobe, not just the wedding lehenga.

Four to five months before: try things on

• Visit a showroom and try silhouettes on your own body — it changes everything.

• Decide which outfits you'll buy ready and which you'd like made for you.

Two to four months before: watch it bloom

• Your piece is being made — we send photographs at every stage.

• Choose the outfits for the other functions, and help your mother and sisters choose theirs.

• Think about jewellery and shoes so they're ready for the fitting.

The last few weeks: the final fitting

• See the finished piece on a video call before it is packed.

• Come in for your final fitting, wearing shoes of the right height. Alterations at your fitting in Gurugram are included.

• Take it home, hang it somewhere safe, and breathe.
