Made to Measure Lehenga

Plus Size Lehenga for Your Wedding: Why Made to Measure Changes Everything

Champagne sand lehenga set from House of Daisy

If you have ever tried on a lehenga that pulled across the back, gaped at the waist, or was the right size in one place and wrong everywhere else, it wasn't you. It was the size chart. Ready-made sizes are drawn for an imaginary average body. A lehenga made to your measurements is drawn for yours, and that is why made-to-measure is the simplest way to a lehenga that fits beautifully, whatever your size.

Why made to measure matters

  • Every measurement is yours. Bust, waist, hips, arms and length are all taken separately, so nothing is forced to fit a single size number.

  • The blouse fits properly. A blouse built for you, with the support you want, sits still through a long ceremony.

  • The skirt sits where you want it. At your natural waist or a little higher or lower, wherever you feel best.

  • Comfort is designed in. Sleeves, lining, can-can and closures can all be chosen for comfort, not only looks.

Our made-to-measure bridal lehenga guide explains the full process, and our lehenga measurement chart lists each number we take.

Things worth asking your designer for

  • The blouse you actually want. Any neckline, any sleeve, any back. Don't let anyone steer you away from a style you love.

  • Support built in. Padding, cups, a corset-style lining or a longer blouse, whatever makes you feel secure.

  • The right closure. A side zip or hooks that are easy to manage on a long day.

  • A comfortable waistband that doesn't dig in when you sit.

  • A can-can that suits you. More volume or less, depending on how you like the skirt to fall and how much weight you want to carry.

  • A dupatta that stays. Properly weighted so it doesn't slip.

  • Pockets. Always.

Choose what you love, not what you've been told

Brides often hear lists of rules: avoid this colour, this fabric, this embroidery. Our designers don't work from rules about bodies. They work from what you love and what you'll be comfortable in for the whole day. Bring the lehengas you've saved, and we'll make the version that works for you.

Fabric and embroidery

Every fabric can work. A few practical notes the designer will talk through:

  • heavier fabrics like velvet and raw silk hold their shape; lighter ones like georgette and net move more;

  • embroidery adds weight, so for a long day we balance heavy work where it shows most with lighter work elsewhere;

  • lining matters as much as the outer fabric for comfort.

Customise one of ours, or design from scratch

If you've fallen for a lehenga from our collection, we can often make it to your measurements, or change the sleeves, colour or work. Or start from a blank page with a designer. See what you can change on a bridal lehenga and how to design your own.

How it works

Meet a designer at our Golf Course Road showroom, or on a free 30-minute video call. Agree the design and see the price before anything is cut. Your measurements are checked with you on a short video call, our own karigars make the piece, and there's a final fitting before your day. A customised lehenga takes about eight weeks from design approval.
