Which earring shapes work best?
- Chandbalis. The crescent shape repeats the soft curve of the shoulder and suits lehengas, anarkali gowns and festive dresses.
- Long linear drops. Slim and vertical, they balance the strong horizontal neckline. Lovely with sleek gowns.
- Tassel or chain danglers. Movement and fun for a sangeet or cocktail where you will dance.
- Statement studs or ear climbers. For a very structured or ruffled neckline, where long earrings would tangle in the fabric.
- Jhumkas. Playful and traditional, best with a festive off-shoulder blouse and a lehenga.
How long should they be?
Long enough to be seen, short enough to stay clear of the fabric. With a plain off-shoulder band, earrings can fall nearly to the shoulder line. With frills, a draped neckline or puffed sleeves, stop them a little higher, near the jaw, so they don't catch or get hidden. If an earring is heavy, a hair chain (sahara) can take some of its weight; choose what feels comfortable for a long evening.
What hairstyle shows them off?
An off-shoulder outfit and statement earrings both like an open neck. Good options:
- a sleek high or low bun;
- a side-swept style, with the earring on the open side as the hero;
- a half-up style, tucked behind the ears;
- a low braid, for a mehndi or day event.
Fully open hair can hide the earrings and the shoulders. If you love it open, tuck one side behind your ear.
Which finish goes with which outfit?
Take your cue from the dress. Gold-tone or kundan earrings suit gold zari and deep festive colours. Pearl drops soften ivory, blush and pastel gowns. Diamond-look or silver-tone earrings sharpen black, navy and emerald for night. A coloured stone that picks up one shade from the embroidery, such as pink or green, looks thoughtful. What else completes the look?
With a bare neck and strong earrings, keep the rest light. A ring or a bracelet on one wrist is enough with a gown. With a lehenga, a few bangles or a haathphool look festive. A small tikka can work with a lehenga, but skip it with a western gown. A matching potli made from the outfit's fabric is possible on made-to-order pieces, and keeps your hands free of a mismatched bag.

Yes. Ready gowns, anarkali gowns, indo-western outfits and co-ords are at the showroom, and ready gowns can be altered (length, waist, sleeves, adding a cape or dupatta), usually within about a week. Off-shoulder, mermaid and ball-gown cuts can be made to order with our hand-work; order a party outfit 3 to 4 weeks ahead.
