Searching "boutique golf course road" brings up all kinds of places: designer studios, multi-label stores, tailoring shops. They work very differently, and for a wedding or a big function the difference matters. This guide sets out what to look for, and then explains plainly what House of Daisy is: a made-to-measure bridal and occasion-wear studio in DT Mega Mall (earlier known as DLF Mega Mall), Golf Course Road, Gurugram.
Three kinds of boutique
Stores of finished pieces: you choose from what is on the rail, in standard sizes, with some alterations.
Tailoring shops: you bring the fabric and the idea; they stitch it.
Design studios: a designer plans the whole outfit with you, including fabric, embroidery and cut, and it is made to your measurements. This is what we do.
None is wrong. A quick guest outfit may suit the first; a simple blouse may suit the second. A bridal outfit, or anything personal, is easier in the third.
Questions to ask any golf course road designer
Who embroiders the piece, and can I see work in progress or finished samples up close?
How are measurements taken, and is there a trial with alterations?
Will I see the full cost, in writing, before anything is cut?
Can the design carry personal details such as names, dates or family motifs?
How is the delivery date decided?
Can you work with my own saree or an heirloom?
Our longer checklist, how to choose a bridal boutique in Gurugram, goes through each one.

Among the golf course road shops, what to expect at ours
We are a studio, so a visit is a conversation rather than a browse. Expect to talk about the function, the setting and the feeling you want; to look at fabrics and embroidery samples; and to leave with a design direction. It is not a place to pick something off a hanger and leave. If you need help thinking through outfits for every function, our sangeet and mehndi outfit guide is a good start.
Signs of good work, whoever you choose
Ask to turn a finished piece inside out. Good embroidery is firm on the back, with no loose loops or long floating threads that will snag. Seams should be finished, not raw, and there should be some margin left in them so the outfit can be adjusted later. The lining should feel soft against the skin, and the can-can, if there is one, should be attached so it does not scratch. A heavy skirt should have a waistband strong enough to carry it. None of this shows in a photograph, but all of it shows by the end of a long wedding day.
