Search for the best bridal boutique in Gurugram and you'll find a hundred lists, each with a different winner. The truth is simpler: the best boutique is the one that makes you feel like yourself, helps you decide with confidence and delivers exactly what it promised. Here are eight things worth looking for — whichever boutique you choose.
1. Prices you can see
If you have to fill in an enquiry form to learn what a lehenga costs, ask yourself why. A good boutique tells you the price up front, so you can plan your whole wedding wardrobe with no awkward surprises. (At House of Daisy, the price is shown on every piece — always.)
2. Pieces shown in your budget
You should never be shown the most expensive lehenga first and then made to feel small for asking for something else. Tell the boutique your budget and see if they respect it.
3. No pressure to buy
A first visit is for trying, comparing and feeling. A good bridal boutique is happy when you leave saying "not yet". Ours doesn't charge for a styling session, whether you buy or not.
4. Real customisation, priced before it starts
Almost every bride wants to change something — a neckline, the sleeves, the colour, the amount of work. Ask whether the boutique can do it, how long it will take, and what it costs before you commit.
5. Know who makes your outfit
Ask where a made-to-order piece is made and by whom. A boutique with its own atelier can tell you — and show you. Ours is the same atelier and the same hands behind the designer label Bhumika Sehgal, and we are happy to show you where your piece is made.
6. A clear timeline and photographs along the way
Ask how long it takes and how you'll know it is on track. We tell brides about eight weeks from design approval for a made-to-order piece, and we send photographs at every stage.
7. Fittings and alterations that are spelled out
How are measurements taken? Are they checked with you before cutting? Are alterations at your fitting included? Get these answers in writing. Our made-to-measure guide explains how we do it.
8. A clear returns policy
Read it before you pay. Made-to-measure pieces usually can't be returned anywhere — that is normal — but ready pieces should have a clear window. Ours is on our returns page.
Beyond the bride: one store for the whole family
The best boutiques make life easier for everyone: an ethnic wear store where your mother can find her saree, your sister her sangeet outfit and your friends their reception looks. At our Golf Course Road store you'll find lehengas, sarees, gowns, Indo-western, anarkalis, shararas and suits under one roof.
Come and judge for yourself
