Indian bridesmaid dresses are having a moment because many squads want something they can slip into in two minutes and dance in all night: floor-length anarkalis, flowing gowns and indo-western dresses instead of a skirt, blouse and dupatta. At House of Daisy on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, we keep ready gowns, anarkali gowns and indo-western pieces at the showroom, and we make the rest to order in the bride's palette.
Why choose a dress over a lehenga?
- Speed: one piece, one zip, no draping. Useful when the squad is also helping the bride get ready.
- Movement: a well-cut anarkali or gown swings when she turns, which is lovely in sangeet videos.
- Less to manage: no dupatta slipping during a dance, unless she chooses to carry one.
- Wear again: a dress is easier to repeat at a party or festival later.
Which dress styles work for bridesmaids?
Anarkali
A fitted bodice that opens into a full flare. Floor-length anarkalis feel traditional enough for the wedding day; shorter ones with churidar or straight pants suit the mehndi. Browse our anarkali collection for the shapes we keep ready.
Gown
From soft A-line to fuller flared cuts, a gown reads as dressy for the cocktail and reception. Our ready gowns can be altered in length, waist and sleeves, and a cape or dupatta can be added, usually within about a week.
Indo-western dress
Drape skirts with a structured top, cape dresses, and dhoti-style sets. These suit the squad that wants to look modern next to a traditional bride.
Can a dress squad still look coordinated?
Yes, if the colour and fabric lead. Pick one shade family and one main fabric, say georgette in sage, or sequinned net in champagne, then let each bridesmaid choose the shape she likes. An anarkali, a gown and a cape dress in the same fabric look planned in photos, while each girl is comfortable. In a group order with us, each woman chooses her own silhouette in the shared fabric and colour story, and the guide to family and bridesmaid outfits around the bride's lehenga shows how to keep the bride the focus.
Which functions suit dresses best?
Dresses shine at the sangeet, cocktail and reception, where the mood is lighter and dancing is expected. For the wedding rituals, a floor-length anarkali with a dupatta sits comfortably beside lehengas and sarees. For the haldi, a simple cotton or chanderi kurta dress is practical. Customs vary by family, so check with the bride before the squad turns up in gowns to a morning puja.
How do we get the fit right for dancing?
Ask for room across the shoulders and at the armhole so arms can go up, a hem that clears the floor in the shoes she will dance in, and a lining that does not cling. If a dupatta is part of the look, we can secure it for dancing on request. For a gown with a fuller skirt, a lighter flare keeps it from feeling heavy by the end of the night.
Ready or made to order?
Ready gowns, anarkali gowns, indo-western and co-ords are at the showroom in sizes up to 5XL and beyond. Western cuts such as mermaid, off-shoulder and ball gown can be made to order with our hand-work. Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our atelier. For the squad, start about four weeks before the first function for lighter work and about eight weeks for heavy hand embroidery; see the group order page for how it works.

Common questions
Can some bridesmaids wear dresses while others wear lehengas?
Yes. If the colour and fabric match, a mix of dresses and lehengas looks deliberate.
Are gowns suitable at an Indian wedding?
For the cocktail and reception, yes. For the rituals, many squads prefer a floor-length anarkali with a dupatta.
Can you add sleeves to a ready gown?
Yes. Sleeves can be added or lengthened on most ready pieces, usually within about a week.
Do your gowns come in larger sizes?
Ready gowns and anarkalis come in sizes up to 5XL and beyond, and any size is made to measure.
Can friends in other cities order with us?
Yes. They send measurements using our guide, with a video call for help, and outfits go to each address.
Anarkali mein dance karna aasaan hai?
Haan, agar flare halka ho aur armhole mein jagah ho. Order karte waqt bata dijiye ki aap dance karengi.
