Customised Gown for Women

Customised Gown for Women in Gurgaon: Reception, Cocktail and Engagement Gowns

Stone gown from the House of Daisy Durga Puja Edit

More brides are choosing a gown for the reception, the cocktail night or the engagement: something that feels different from the wedding lehenga but still unmistakably Indian. A gown also depends on fit more than almost any other outfit. Made to your measurements, it looks effortless; off the rack, it rarely does. Here is how a customised gown comes together.

When a gown works

Choosing a silhouette

  • Ball gown: fitted bodice, full skirt. The most dramatic.

  • A-line: fitted at the top, gently flared. Easy to wear and to move in.

  • Mermaid or fish-cut: fitted to the knee, then flared. Glamorous, a little harder to sit and dance in.

  • Column or sheath: straight and sleek.

  • Cape or drape gown: a gown with a cape or draped dupatta, for an Indo-western look.

The designer will help you choose the one you'll be comfortable in for the whole evening, not only the one that looks best standing still.

Making it Indian

What makes a customised gown special at an Indian wedding is the handwork:

  • zardozi or cutdana on the bodice;

  • a sequinned or embroidered trail;

  • a sheer cape with scattered work;

  • a dupatta draped from the shoulder;

  • your initials worked into the embroidery.

Our own karigars do this embroidery by hand.

Fabric choices

  • Net and tulle: light, layered and romantic.

  • Satin and crepe: smooth and sleek, with a soft shine.

  • Velvet: rich and warm for a winter reception.

  • Organza: structure and sheen.

  • Georgette: flowing, for a gown you want to dance in.

Fit and comfort

Ask for a gown you can sit, eat and dance in. Things the designer can build in: a corset or support in the bodice, a detachable trail, a bustle so the trail can be lifted for dancing, and pockets. Your measurements are checked with you on a short video call before anything is cut. See our measurement guide.

How it works

Bring screenshots of gowns you love to our Golf Course Road showroom, or share them on a free 30-minute video call. A designer sketches it with you, you choose the fabric and work, and you see the price before anything is cut. A customised gown takes about eight weeks from design approval, with photographs along the way. Prefer something ready? Browse our gowns and Reception collection.
