Custom Bridesmaid Dresses: How a Made-to-Measure Group Order Works

Lilac Lavender Crop Top Lehenga from House of Daisy

Ready-made bridesmaid outfits come in standard sizes, and in a group of five or six, someone is always pinning a waist or hiding a loose shoulder under a dupatta. Custom bridesmaid dresses solve that: every outfit is made to the person wearing it, in a palette the bride chooses, and everything is finished together for the same date.

What "custom" means for a bridesmaid group

  • One palette, chosen by the bride. A single colour, a few shades of one colour, or a set of colours that sit together.

  • Styles that suit each person. One sister may want a lehenga, a cousin a sharara, a friend a saree. They can still look like one group.

  • Made to each person's measurements. No standard sizes, no last-minute alterations.

  • One delivery date. Everything is planned around the first function, not around whoever orders last.

How a group order works

1. The bride (or whoever is organising) starts the order

On our bridesmaid and family orders page, you add the event, the date, how the outfits should go together and a name and WhatsApp number for each person. There is no minimum: two sisters can order together.

2. Everyone sends her own measurements

We send each person her own link. She fills in her measurements herself, and we follow up with anyone who hasn't finished, so the organiser doesn't have to. Our measurement guide and lehenga measurement chart explain what to measure.

3. The designs are agreed

Our designers work out the palette and the styles with you, and you see the designs and the price before anything is cut.

4. Payment

Either one payment from the organiser, or each person pays for her own. Either way, payment is made in full in advance.

5. Making and delivery

Making starts when all but one person has sent her measurements, so one late reply doesn't hold up the rest. A late piece follows about a week behind and still arrives before the date.

When to start

Start about four weeks before the first function. Bridesmaid outfits usually carry lighter work than a bride's, which is what makes four weeks enough. Heavy hand embroidery is different: it takes about eight weeks from design approval. See when to order bridesmaid dresses for a full plan.

What to decide first

  • How the outfits match: same colour in different styles, the same style in different colours, or identical. Read same colour, different style.

  • The colours: chosen around the bride's own outfit. See bridesmaid colours for a red bride.

  • Which functions: one outfit for the wedding, or a different look for sangeet, mehndi and haldi too.

Ready pieces as a starting point

Many groups start from a piece in our crop top lehenga collection or sangeet collection and ask for it in their palette, length or sleeve. Our designers can tell you what can be changed on each one.
