Bhabhi lehenga long blouse: more cover, a graceful line

A bhabhi lehenga long blouse is one of the most graceful ways to wear a lehenga: the longer choli gives you more cover, a smooth unbroken line from shoulder to hem, and the ease to sit, bend and greet all day without adjusting anything. At House of Daisy, our showroom on Golf Course Road, Gurugram, we make long blouses to order and can change the blouse on many ready lehengas so you get the length you want.

Why do so many bhabhis choose a long blouse?

For most women it comes down to comfort. A long blouse means no gap to watch while you are serving food, lifting the bride's lehenga or touching elders' feet. It also suits families where more cover is preferred at rituals. And it simply looks elegant: a long, fitted blouse over a flared skirt has a clean, stately line that photographs well standing or seated.

Which long blouse cuts can I choose?

  • Peplum blouse: fitted to the waist, then a small flare over the hip. Playful and festive.
  • Straight long choli: ends at the upper hip, close and simple, lets the embroidery speak.
  • Kurti-length top: falls to mid-thigh with side slits, almost like a short kurta over the lehenga.
  • Jacket-style blouse: open or with a front fastening over an inner layer, for a layered look.
  • Angrakha wrap: an overlapping front tied at the side, soft and traditional.

Does a long blouse change how the skirt should look?

A little. Because the blouse covers the top of the skirt, the waistband embroidery is hidden, so put the work where it will show: the hem, the kalis and the blouse itself. A softer A-line flare balances a long top well; a very full skirt under a kurti-length top can look busy. The dupatta can be lighter, or worn on one shoulder, since the blouse already gives coverage. On our ready lehengas, the can-can is detachable if you want less volume under a long top.

Can I get a long blouse on a ready lehenga?

Often, yes. On a ready lehenga, the blouse can be made to your choice, so a longer cut is possible. Sleeves can be added or lengthened on most ready pieces, usually within about a week, and cups or padding can be added to any blouse. Ready lehengas can also be altered in length, waist and flare at the showroom, usually within about a week. Have a look at our wedding collection and pick a skirt you love; we will talk you through the blouse options at the showroom.

How does a made-to-order long-blouse lehenga work?

In a free first consultation, at the showroom or on a video call, you choose fabric, colour, neckline, sleeves and embroidery one by one. Our designers share a sketch for your approval, and you see an embroidery sample before the full piece is made. Pieces we make to order are made to your measurements and hand-embroidered in our atelier. Front or side zips and a soft lining can be added on request, which many women appreciate in a fitted long blouse. For one festive outfit, order three to four weeks ahead. If the family is ordering together, start about four weeks before the first function for lighter work and about eight weeks for heavy hand embroidery. See our guide to family outfits planned with the bride for how a household's looks are coordinated.

Which functions suit a long blouse best?

It works almost everywhere. For the pheras, a long blouse in silk or velvet with rich work is formal and comfortable. For the mehndi, a cotton silk kurti-length top over a printed skirt keeps you cool and keeps sleeves clear of wet henna if you choose short or three-quarter sleeves. For the sangeet, a peplum blouse moves well when you dance. For the reception, a jacket-style long blouse looks polished on stage.

Common questions

Can you make a long blouse for a lehenga I already bought from you?

Yes. A crop top, jacket or shrug can be made to order to match a skirt bought from House of Daisy, and a long blouse can be discussed the same way at the showroom.

Will a long blouse make the lehenga look less festive?

Not at all. Put the embroidery on the blouse and hem, and it reads as rich and traditional.

Can I add a zip for easier dressing?

On made-to-order pieces, front or side zips can be added on request.

Do long blouses come in larger sizes?

Ready blouses come in sizes up to 5XL and beyond, and any size is also made to measure.

Long blouse wala lehenga shaadi mein pehen sakte hain?

Bilkul. Silk ya velvet mein rich kaam ke saath yeh pheron ke liye bhi bahut graceful lagta hai.
