Looking for Indian designer clothes in Singapore usually starts with a simple wish: an outfit that feels made for you, by a designer who knows Indian bridal craft. House of Daisy is an independent Indian designer label from Gurugram. Our designer, Bhumika Sehgal, designs each piece, and a bride in Singapore can work with her entirely on video call and WhatsApp video, from the first idea to the approved sketch.
A tropical wedding, indoors and out
Singapore is warm and humid all year, with sudden showers, and many receptions are held in air-conditioned halls. The outfit has to cope with both: a sticky walk from the car and a cool banquet room. Directions that suit that mix include:
Fabrics with breathing room: soft silk, georgette and organza for ceremonies held in the day or at a temple or gurdwara.
Evening weight for the reception: richer silk, or a lehenga with a fuller can-can, for an air-conditioned hall.
Embroidery that moves: fine thread work, gota and lighter embellishment, rather than a skirt covered in heavy zardozi from waist to hem.
A light shawl or second dupatta: for halls where the air conditioning runs cold.
A plan for rain: a skirt length that clears the ground by a little, so a wet pavement on the way in does not mark the hem.
Our notes on a lightweight bridal lehenga go into fabric choices in more detail.
Designs for Singapore's many Indian communities
The Indian community in Singapore is wide: Tamil, Malayali, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Bengali and many more, as well as many mixed-culture couples. The Indian designers Singapore brides work with, whether there or in India, are asked for very different outfits depending on the family, so it helps to start the first call by describing your functions rather than a single look.
South Indian ceremonies: silk with temple-style borders is a popular direction. See our guide to South Indian bridal lehenga designs.
Anand Karaj: many Sikh brides like a dupatta that carries the laavan in Gurmukhi.
Nikah and walima: a sharara or gharara for one function and a lehenga for the other is a common plan.
Indian and Chinese families together: one outfit for each ceremony, sometimes with a shared colour or motif. Our Indian Chinese wedding dress guide has ideas.
For any sacred words on a dupatta, confirm the exact text and spelling with your family elder, priest or granthi, and keep it on the dupatta, which is worn on the head or shoulders, never near the hem.
Video calls across the time difference
Singapore is ahead of India, so the time difference works in your favour. Our Gurugram studio is open 11:00 to 21:00 daily, which means a call in your afternoon or early evening usually lands in our working day. A few tips for the calls:
Sit near a window in daylight when you show fabric or an old saree, so the colour reads true on screen.
Keep a soft tape and a helper ready for the measurement call.
Collect references in one place: screenshots, a Pinterest board, family photos, even AI pictures.
Fit, shipping and customs
Our designer guides you through your measurements on video, using our measurement guide. If you are visiting India before the wedding, you can have a trial at our Golf Course Road store in Gurugram when you land, with alterations. Either way, we leave extra margin in the seams so a tailor near you in Singapore can make final adjustments.
We ship worldwide, including to Singapore. You pay your own country's customs duty and import taxes when the parcel arrives. What you pay depends on things such as the declared value and the type of garment, and the rules change, so check Singapore's customs website before you order. Our bridal lehenga in Singapore guide covers the bridal outfit itself in more depth, and our Indian designer wedding outfits post looks at every other function.
