A destination wedding in Andaman means white sand, clear water and a sea breeze that rarely stops. It is beautiful, and it is humid, so the bride's outfits need to be planned for heat, wind and sand as much as for the photographs. Here is how we would plan a full wardrobe for the islands, made to your measurements and with you before you fly.
What the islands ask of your outfits
Many couples choose the drier months for a destination wedding in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, but even then the air is usually warm and damp, and the afternoon sun on the beach can be strong. Check the forecast for your dates and plan around three things:
Humidity: heavy linings, velvet and thick brocade feel airless within an hour. Choose fabrics that breathe, such as georgette, organza, net, chiffon, mulmul and light silk.
Wind: a sea breeze lifts net and organza beautifully in pictures, but it also pulls a loose dupatta off your head. Plan where the dupatta is pinned before the day, not on it.
Sand: long trails collect sand and drag. Floor-length is fine; a train is not.
Functions and what to wear for each
Island weddings often run over two or three days, with a smaller guest list and more time outdoors. A typical plan looks like this:
Welcome evening: a light net lehenga or a flowing gown in a sea-glass colour such as aqua, mint or pale coral. See our ideas for a bride welcome party outfit.
Haldi by the water: a cotton or mulmul set in yellow or white that you do not mind staining, with sleeves short enough to stay clean. More in our post on a customised haldi outfit.
Mehndi and sangeet: a sharara or a crop-top lehenga with a lighter skirt, so you can sit for the henna and dance on uneven ground.
Pool or beach party: a co-ord set, a short dress or an Indo-western dhoti-style set with a cape.
Pheras: your bridal lehenga or saree, planned for the heat (see the next section).
Reception: a gown or a saree drape with sequin or crystal work that catches the evening light.
The bridal lehenga for a beach mandap
An island mandap is often set on the sand or on a lawn near the water, in the late afternoon or around sunset. That changes how the bridal lehenga is built:
Fabric: georgette, organza, net or a light raw silk rather than velvet. Our karigars can still embroider dense zardozi or sequin work on the blouse and border while keeping the skirt panels light.
Can-can: a soft layer or none at all, so the skirt does not trap heat around your legs.
Length: finished just off the floor with your footwear on, so the hem skims the sand instead of ploughing through it.
Colour: the sea and sky do half the work. Ivory, blush, peach, coral, aqua and turquoise look calm against blue water, and a classic red with gold stands out strongly at sunset.

Ideas taken from the islands
The setting gives you motifs that feel personal without being literal. Waves can run in fine sequin along a border, shells or branches of coral can be worked in thread on a dupatta, and a pale aqua hem can shade into ivory like shallow water over sand. If you want something quieter, keep the island idea to one place: a scalloped border, or your initials and wedding date in a corner of the dupatta. Our karigars embroider it in thread, sequin, cutdana or zardozi, depending on how much shine you want in the sun.
Getting your outfits to the islands
We design and make the outfits and send them to you; no one from our team travels with you, so plan for everything to be in your own hands.
We ship the finished outfits to your home, in India or abroad, or you collect them at our Golf Course Road store in Gurugram before you travel.
Carry the bridal lehenga and your jewellery in your cabin bag where your airline allows it. Rules differ by airline and change, so check before you fly.
Pack a small kit: safety pins, dupatta pins, a travel steamer, tissue paper and a cotton cloth to sit on during photographs on the sand.
Hang everything as soon as you arrive. Humid air relaxes creases in georgette and net, but silk usually needs a light steam.

How to order
Send us your dates, the list of functions and any pictures you love on WhatsApp +91 92896 79666. If you live abroad, we work with you on video call and WhatsApp video from the first conversation to design approval. Our designer plans each outfit, shows you the price before anything is cut and gives you a delivery date once the design is approved; payment is in full in advance. For fit, the designer guides you through your measurements on a video call, or you can have a trial at the store with alterations, and we leave extra margin in the seams so a tailor near you can make final changes. Start early so the outfits reach you well before you leave for the islands. If we ship abroad, your country's customs duty and import taxes are paid by you when the parcel arrives.
