A custom bridal lehenga India-made is what many brides who grew up abroad have pictured for years: the colour her mother wore, her partner's name tucked into the border, a dupatta that carries a family blessing. Distance does not have to get in the way. At House of Daisy our designer plans the whole lehenga with you on video call, and our karigars embroider it to your measurements in Gurugram before we ship it to you.
What custom really means
Some shops call a lehenga custom when they only change the size. A true custom lehenga India karigars build for you starts with a blank page, and you decide each part of it:
The silhouette: a full kalidar skirt, a fish cut, a crop top lehenga, or a long kurti over the skirt.
The colour: matched to a swatch, a photograph, or a saree from your family.
The embroidery: zardozi, gota, phulkari, chikankari, or Kashmiri tilla and aari, placed exactly where you want weight and where you want air.
The personal details: names, initials, your wedding date, or a scene such as a doli or a baraat.
The fit: cut to your own measurements rather than a standard size chart.
This is why so many brides type "custom made lehenga India" into a search bar. They are not looking for a ready piece with a few alterations. They want something that could only belong to them.
Why brides abroad still come to India for it
The embroidery traditions behind a bridal lehenga, zardozi, gota, phulkari and chikankari, are worked by karigars here who have learned them over many years. Abroad, a bride often finds two routes: ready pieces with little room to change the design, or a local tailor who does not do heavy bridal embroidery. Choosing custom lehengas India-made means the design, the embroidery and the stitching happen in one place, with one designer who knows your story from the first call to the last.
It also means your lehenga is planned as one piece. The blouse, skirt, dupatta, latkans and lining are designed together, so the colours and the embroidery speak to each other instead of being matched up later.
Bringing your story into the design
Most brides arrive with a folder of ideas. Share whatever you have on WhatsApp: a Pinterest board, a rough sketch, an AI picture of your dream lehenga, family photographs, or an old saree you would like to include. Our designer looks at all of it and turns it into one clear design.
Personal touches are where a custom piece comes alive. Our karigars can embroider names and dates in English, Hindi (Devanagari), Gurmukhi, Urdu or Sanskrit. Many brides choose a bridal dupatta with a name or a short family line along the border. If you would like a mantra, a shlok or the laavan, please confirm the exact words and spelling with your family elder, priest or granthi first. We place sacred text on the dupatta, which is worn on the head or shoulders, and never on the skirt hem or anywhere it would touch the floor. Some families prefer motifs such as a lotus or a peacock instead of words, and both are lovely.
Getting the fit right from another country
Fit is the question every bride abroad asks first. There are three ways we handle it:
Our designer guides you through your measurements on a video call, one by one, so nothing is guessed.
If you are coming to India before the wedding, you can have a trial at our Golf Course Road store in Gurugram when you land, and we make the alterations.
We leave extra margin in the seams, so a tailor near you can make the final adjustments if your measurements change.
Timing, payment and customs
Our designer gives you a delivery date once the design is approved. The date depends on the design, because heavy embroidery takes longer than a lighter piece, and shipping to you comes on top of that. The simple advice is to start early.
Before anything is cut, the designer shows you the price. Payment is in full in advance. We ship worldwide, and you pay your own country's customs duty and import taxes when the parcel arrives. Rules change and differ from country to country, so check your country's customs website before you order.
