Bridal Lehenga Reference: How to Bring Pictures So Your Designer Gets It Right

Graceful Pastel Pink and Purple Lehenga from House of Daisy

Most brides arrive at their first design meeting with a phone full of saved lehengas. That is a good start, but forty screenshots can confuse a designer as much as they help. A clear set of bridal lehenga reference pictures, with a note on what you love in each, is the fastest way to get the lehenga in your head made for real.

Step 1: Collect freely, then cut down

Save everything you like for a few weeks: lehengas, blouses, dupattas, colours, even a wall or a flower. Then sit down and pick eight to twelve pictures that keep pulling you back. If two pictures say the same thing, keep the clearer one.

Step 2: Sort them by part

  • Silhouette: the shape of the skirt (flared, A-line, fish-cut, layered), the length, the volume.

  • Colour: the base colour and the embroidery colours.

  • Embroidery: the type of work and how much of it. A close-up is more useful than a full-length shot.

  • Blouse: neckline, back, sleeves.

  • Dupatta: one or two, border, sheerness, how it is draped.

  • Details: latkans, names, motifs, story elements. See love story lehenga.

It is fine, and normal, for the skirt to come from one picture and the blouse from another.

Step 3: Mark what you love, and what you don't

For each picture, write one line: "this colour", "this border, not the blouse", "this much sparkle, no more". Equally useful: "I do not want a deep neck", "nothing too heavy for dancing". A simple circle drawn on a screenshot saves ten minutes of explaining.

Step 4: Add the practical facts

  • Which function the outfit is for, and whether it is a day or night event.

  • How heavy you are happy to wear, and how long you will be in it.

  • Anything you want to repeat from another outfit, or avoid.

  • Your date.

What kind of pictures help most

  • Clear, well-lit photos rather than filtered or edited ones; filters change colours.

  • Close-ups of embroidery, so the karigars can see the stitch.

  • Back views of blouses and dupattas.

  • Your own sketch, however rough. Read bridal lehenga sketch.

  • AI pictures, if you have made your own design. Read dream lehenga AI.

  • Pinterest boards: share the board, but still pick your top ten. See pinterest lehenga for bride.

What happens next

Our designer reads your references, asks questions, and draws one design that brings them together. We make your own version: never a copy of another label's design. You see the design, fabric options and the price before anything is cut. Payment is in full in advance, the lehenga is made to your measurements by our own karigars, and the designer gives you a delivery date once the design is approved.

For the whole process, read design your own bridal lehenga.
